Amber Darlington, MOT, OTL/R
Amber Darlington is a skilled hand therapist who earned her masters degree in occupational therapy from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the team at Summit Hand Therapy, Amber honed her skills in post-acute care health care setting. She brings a wealth of experience to patient care and meeting patients' individual and unique goals for rehabilitation. She is highly skilled in manual therapy and function-based exercise, combining these strategies to accomplish the best result for healing and caring for patients. Amber is a certified Graston Technique provider. She is dedicated to helping her patients reach their goals through varied and creative therapy techniques, as well as listening and understanding patients' individual needs. Amber is a valued member of the Summit Hand Therapy team in our Layton clinic. This is due to her commitment to providing the best possible care for her patients and helping them achieve their goals. Amber loves to explore her passions for music, sports and nature. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends at volleyball games, backpacking and live concerts.Brian Jensen, OTD, OTR/L, GTS
Brian Jensen earned a doctorate degree in occupational therapy from Creighton University. Brian has focused his entire occupational therapy career in therapy of the upper extremity, is a skilled manual therapist, and has also become a Graston Technique provider. He is passionate about being a skilled manual therapist, combining his enthusiasm for life and desire to return patients to full function. Brian is currently managing our Clinton, Utah clinic and he also manages our student education program. At Summit Hand Therapy, we bring students country wide getting their degree in occupational therapy in to do professional 12 week rotations. In clinic, Brian provides his patients a unique style of therapy, one where healing is combined laughter, caring, kindness, and working hand-in-hand with each patient to create a therapeutic environment that promotes positive healing. Brian was raised in Green River, Wyoming and loves the outdoors. You can often find him fly-fishing on the Weber River or riding dirt bikes in the mountains above Ogden. Brian and his wife have two young children and a rambunctious golden-doodle named Lulu. Brian speaks fluent Spanish.Capriana Walker, COTA/L
Capriana Walker is a COTA/L (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, licensed). She goes by her nickname Capri. After graduation from Salt Lake Community College with a degree in occupational therapy assistant, she completed further training in upper extremity and continues to collaborate closely with therapists to ensure the highest quality of care and rehabilitation for her patients. She is a patient centered practitioner whose motivation is to help patients recover, improve and accomplish the goals individuals necessary for them to fully participate in life without restrictions or discomfort. Capri is passionate about helping people and one of the best perks of patient interaction at Summit Hand Therapy is her love and care in getting to know people on an individual level. Capri is continually growing as a practitioner through continuing education and hands on training with the other skilled therapists at Summit Hand Therapy. She, like all of the therapist at Summit Hand Therapy focus their rehabilitation technique in manual therapy, working hands on with patients to ensure personalized care. Capri loves being a mother, spending time with her husband and her family. When Capri is not busy being a mom and a therapist, she can be found participating in her favorite hobbies: running, hiking and being outdoors.Craig Poulsen, MOT, OTL/R
Craig Poulson earned his Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in Austin, Texas. Before becoming an occupational therapist, Craig was a certified personal trainer for four years where he developed his passion for whole body health and wellness. Along with this experience and his intuition in looking at wellness through fitness and building strength, he has experience in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation. Craig, a native of Bountiful has returned home to lead our Bountiful clinic with a fun and nurturing energy. The staff in Bountiful has embraced the welcoming and healing environment that Summit Hand Therapy is known for. Craig loves to hear from patients that they are returning to the activities they love most and to see therapy is working not only physically but emotionally as well. Craig enjoys exercise and weight training, however there is nothing more important to him than his family. You will find him most often on walks with his wife, children and dogs or playing with his family in the local parks.Jamie Macintosh, OTD, OTR/L, CLT
Jaime began her career and love of occupational therapy in 2013, when she graduated with her associates degree in occupational therapy and became a licensed COTA. Jaime worked for 5 years in a variety of adult treatment settings, including transitional care, skilled nursing, and acute care. During this time she worked to gain a stronger understanding of her clients occupational needs as well as strengthening her own therapeutic practices. This passion for patient rehabilitation, and providing the best care and healing for patients lead Jaime to go back to school and receive her doctorate in occupational therapy from Concordia University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While working on her doctorate, Jaime worked in a hand therapy clinic where her love for the upper extremity was strengthened. Jamie also has her certificate in lymphedema therapy. After completing her doctoral degree, Jamie was hired at Summit Hand Therapy in the Brigham City clinic. Jaime strives to provide excellence and upper extremity care and rehabilitation. She is not only passionate about getting patients back to the things they love doing, she sincerely cares about individuals. Outside of being a very compassionate hand therapist, Jaime enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and being outdoors. She loves kayaking and camping, hunting with her husband and gardening. She has three children and is learning to navigate her newest role as a grandmother.Madison McGill OTR/L
Madison McGill graduated from College of Saint Mary with a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has experience in both outpatient and pediatric occupational therapy. After graduation, Maddie (which is what she goes by) completed extensive courses in hand therapy and pediatric topics to fine tune her skills. Maddie strives to be a well-rounded therapist, seeking the most up to date practice techniques. This makes her such a valuable therapist at Summit Hand Therapy in keeping patient care current but also using her experience to provide the best therapeutic care for her patients. All clinics and patients at Summit Hand Therapy benefit from Maddie's caring and personal touch and her heart warming smile. Her background as a college athlete and kinesiology tutor has shaped her mindset to help individuals reach both their athletic and personal goals. She uses a hands-on approach to connect with patients and facilitate healing through client-centered therapy. Maddie is from Wahoo, Nebraska and recently moved to Utah with her husband and golden retriever. She enjoys running, hiking, and all things outdoors.Ryan McGiven, MS, OTR/L, CHT, GTS
Ryan McGiven earned his master's degree in occupational therapy from Touro University in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since he graduated, Ryan has advanced his career through consistent continued education. He has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2015 and more recently became a Graston Technique Specialist in 2020. Ryan also has experience in neurotrauma rehabilitation, acute care and skilled nursing. He is an exceptional manual therapist who uses tried and true therapy protocols to accomplish the functional goals of his patients. Ryan is currently managing the Layton office, where we have two other therapists. There is nothing more satisfying to Ryan than to see his patients thrive and return to what they love/need to do. Ryan loves all things sports, whether it is the San Francisco 49ers, Giants or our Utah Jazz. He spends much of his free time coaching his four boys in football, basketball, and baseball. You may also find him on the golf course, the ski slopes or boating on a lake. Ryan was raised in Orem, Utah.Sam Delong, OTD, OTR/L
Sam DeLong has been a hand therapist for nearly 20 years. He earned his doctorate in occupational therapy from Creighton University. Since graduating he has focused entirely on the rehabilitation of the upper extremity, including the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand with an emphasis on anatomically-based manual therapy. Sam believes that therapy should be a hands-on, caring, and enjoyable process in which the therapist and patient work together to accomplish their functional goals; positivity, laughter, and personal touch are paramount to Sam's treatment style. Sam treats his patients according to the motto "pain is not a healing feeling." Sam's primary clinic is Brigham City, where he is build that clinic to service Box Elder County and surrounding areas. However as the owner of Summit Hand Therapy, he is popping into all of the clinics. Sam is passionate about reading, backpacking, snow skiing, and golf. He and his wife love northern Utah where they raised their four children. Sam was raised in Mesa, Arizona. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese from time living in Taiwan.Shelley Braithwaite, MOT, OTL/R
Shelley Braithwaite has a Masters degree in occupational therapy from the University of Utah. As an Utah native, it was amazing to stay in Utah and attend the UofU. Shelley focused her schooling and career towards care and rehabilitation of the upper extremity. She did one of her professional rotations at Summit Hand Therapy, where she was an impressive and well prepared student. Shelley has continued to grow and develop her skills as a Hand Therapist through continuing her education and has become a Graston Technique provider. Shelley is currently the managing therapist in Summit Hand Therapy's Farr West clinic and focuses on creating a positive therapeutic environment. Her main focus is to promote healing by working hand in hand with each patients individual need and goals. She accomplishes this goal by using her skills in manual therapy and knowledge of appropriate therapeutic activities based on injury and patient abilities. These three things combined: continuing education, patient goal oriented therapy, and a positive therapeutic environment are Shelley's combination for success! Shelley was raised in Brigham City, Utah. When she is not in clinic, you will find her in the outdoors with her family. Her favorite activities include camping, kayaking, fishing and tearing it up on the pickle ball or tennis courts.Sam & Melissa Delong, Owners
Nestled at the base of the northern Utah Wasatch mountain range, there was no better location for owners Sam and Melissa to fulfill their dream of opening a stand-alone hand therapy clinic. With the beauty of the mountains and the year-round outdoor recreation options, it was the perfect location for them to raise their family as well. They started in 2007 with one location in Layton, Utah and have since grown to five clinics in three northern Utah counties. The majestic mountain backdrop provides all of the activities they love to do with their family, skiing, backpacking and more. Owning and building Summit Hand Therapy dream has been an incredible journey! Their hope is that your journey to rehabilitation is like that climb up to the summit. It may be difficult, but once you reach the vista, the work was worth the effort. In all things, the struggle and success is well worth the time our patients and therapists put into healing. Angela Jensen, Director of Billing, Office Manager
Angela Jensen manages our front office team. She trains our front desk staff to provide knowledgeable and friendly service from the patient’s initial contact with Summit Hand Therapy. However great she is at that task, that is not her greatest skill. One of the things that makes Summit Hand Therapy stand out is our billing department. If patients have questions or concerns about their insurance, bill, or the process of continued therapy, Angie will find the answer. She has been with Summit Hand Therapy from its initial start and provides patients with exceptional care beyond therapy. Patients will find that Angie’s knowledge of insurance raises the bar. She was raised in North Ogden, Utah but calls West Point, Utah her home. This is where she and her husband have been raising their four children and breeding the most adorable golden-doodles. Angie loves to backpack, scuba dive, travel and spending time with her husband and children.
